TESTAE, vases born from fragments
We live in Rome and, while walking through the neighborhood of the same name, we often pass by Monte Testaccio, also known as Monte dei Cocci. It’s an artificial hill, about 55 meters high and a kilometer in circumference, built from fragments of amphorae once used to transport goods and unloaded at the nearby river port of Testaccio. FÒLIA Ceramics Collection. Næssi x SOTA
“We created a set that evokes a recurring space in the city of Rome: the place where disconnected architectural fragments interact with the ground from which spontaneous herbs and plants grow. A photograph of the moment in which the city welcomes the fragment and uses it to create new scenarios and unexpected composite architectures. What we describe is the state of impermanence of the architecture of this city, but also the necessary impermanence of the research we carry out.” - Naessi -

SANTO PALATO. Contemporary Trattoria in Roma
For Santo Palato, the vital starting point was the meeting with the chef and owner, Sarah Cicolini. With her we establish a long, proficient discourse about food, design and how their interconnection can bring unexpected results from many points of view. […] open

FÒLIA, exercises in lightness
[…] In this design we played freely with the undulating surface of FOLIA. The result is an abstract composition that contains input for possible new product types but defines none specifically. The undulating surfaces flank each other by tangency and overlap like the light leaves of a plant growing in search of light and air. […] open

FÒLIA Collection. Returning the natural wood to the organic form from which it originates
The plant world is full of light and apparently fragile three-dimensional surfaces. FÒLIA, the research, stems from the desire to bring wood, a natural material, back to the organic form from which it comes. By merging traditional cabinetry processes with contemporary transformation methods such as thermoforming, we have obtained wavy surfaces in maple briar with a glossy finish. This is the basic material for the development of the first outputs of the FÒLIA Collection: two occasional tables and a console. […] open

INBETWEEN, a threshold that serves two functions: to display and to contain. Næssi x FENIX®
INBETWEEN is a threshold, an element that marks the passage between external space and internal space, between public space and intimate space.
We started from the furnishings designed for the entrances of historic homes, those rooms that acted as a filter between the city and the house. […] open

Espressoh. A store made of light, coffee and some of the Milanese things we love
Espressoh opens its first flagship store in Milan, a project with an essential design that brings the classic Italian coffee shop towards a contemporary dimension with rituals and an easy approach typical of our reference model. Located in the Cinque Giornate area with a Ceppo di Gré marble facade, the store, thanks to the five windows facing the street, has a continuous and direct relationship with the city. […] open

UNDATED Seating Collection: beyond the conflict between classic and contemporary
Welcoming the ancient in the contemporary and shaping memory through current gestures.

VARIAZIONI Tables collection. Wood aesthetics drawn by light
VARIAZIONI is a collection of tables with archetypal shape, bold proportions and inlaid top. The surface of the top, decorated with "tone on tone" inlays - "essence on essence" - celebrates the aesthetic versatility of a natural material such as wood: each portion of the fiber, rotated a few degrees with respect to the basic orientation, absorbs the light and returns it with chromatic vibrations, depth effects and unexpected geometric signs. RE-TRO-PEN-SIÈ-RI, side tables. Næssi x Retrobottega
An afterthought (retropensiero, in italian) is a hidden thought that is not made explicit but that has the power to influence actions, just like an object designed for a precise function and therefore not for decorative purposes. That object is an essential presence but it is not necessarily the protagonist of the space. […] open

NÆSSI WEEKLY PLANNER. Redesign of an office classic
In creative projects time is seen as a source of anxiety and as a physical limit to ideas' natural development. Our design choices are inspired by the painterly qualities of Umbrian cities and the strong but simple geometric forms of local Brutalist architecture.
