OCT20. FEDRIGONI 366 x Næssi
Fedrigoni UK, each year, produces the 365 book in which a group of creative people active in Britain creatively experiment with Fedrigoni papers and innovative printing techniques.
In 2024, in addition to the British creatives, 10 Italian studios (including ours) were selected to participate with their artwork in the creation of the new volume, 366. Each studio was assigned a day of the year; we worked on October 20. Our task was to think of a concept, create artwork and select colors within a defined palette. Finally we relied on HP Mosaic, software that applied algorithms to randomly mix colors within each design in order to create different combinations. Each book is different with an infinite number of alternative combinations.
Oct20 by Næssi Studio.
In the Italian language the word "twenty" translates as "venti", the same word for “winds”. The design represents a pattern of surfaces moved by the wind. Small sheets of paper are stretched by the energy of the air which is an invisible force changing objects and altering sensory perceptions.
Flipping through the pages creates a shift of air invisible to the naked eye, a movement that makes its presence felt and changes situations just like the winds that blow through Rome, the city where we live and work.
