UNDATED table collection, Naessi x Movimento Gallery

INTRO

The conflict between the contemporary and the classical, typical of Rome, generates a constant methodological and formal dialectic around which we develop many of our projects.

Undated was born from this inspiration: this collection represents a personal, non-philological vision of the connection between distant historical periods. Undated is the manifesto of an undefined, uncodifiable time, in which past and present remain suspended.

METHODOLOGICAL APPROACH

We usually start with the raw material and seek to understand its nature through its technical and aesthetic characteristics. We love working on the construction of languages that are both conceptual and formal, a kind of alphabet with which we freely experiment.

The moment of defining the project occurs after a phase of subtraction: practicing eliminating everything superfluous leads us to the essence of design and questions every choice made.

The production phase, which begins with taking the design to the artisan workshop, adds a further layer of interpretation: there, the living material defines the design, and thus the project is transformed into an object.

UNDATED COLLECTION

The UNDATED collection is characterized by archetypal volumes connected to each other in a formal architectural scheme: a set of aesthetics and design solutions that arise from the observation of Roman stylistic elements and their continuous stratifications.

Each piece in the collection is the result of a process of selection, composition, and redefinition that reminds us of the typical practices of the Middle Ages and Baroque periods, when recycling elements from ancient architecture was permitted and widely practiced. This technique allowed us to reflect on thinking of the past, not as a static legacy, but as a vital element capable of impacting our present and future.

The collection's final aesthetic is contemporary and abstract, and formally engages in an open dialogue with the space in which it is placed.

The use of marble as the material for the collection reinforces the process and leads to the project's concept.
