RE-TRO-PEN-SIÈ-RI, side tables. Retrobottega x Næssi

INTRO

An afterthought (retropensiero, in italian) is a hidden thought that is not made explicit but that has the power to influence actions, just like an object designed for a precise function and therefore not for decorative purposes. That object is an essential presence but it is not necessarily the protagonist of the space.

The Retro-pen-siè-ri are functional objects with pure geometries born from a process of design subtraction: by eliminating all the superfluous it is possible to reach the essence of form and matter.

Re-tro-pen-siè-ri ──  side table

A small table for guests that can be adjusted to three heights and stackable to save space when not in use. At the intersection of the three floors that compose it, there is an emptied corner to create a comfortable grip for constant movement.

Solid oak with heterogeneous characteristics and irregular fibers enhanced by the monochrome aesthetic. The carbonized finish with the shou sugi ban technique makes the surface of the wood resistant to water and external agents.

Oak recovery, craftsmanship and charred finish with the shou sugi ban technique by Studio F, an artisan carpentry based in Turin (Italy).
