NÆSSI COFFEE: beans for filter coffee. Næssi Studio x Chicchi by Marigold.
Days at our home studio in Rome always begin with preparing coffee. Our studio is a place where the boundary is blurred between our work and private lives, so the coffee that accompanies us through the day has become a fil rouge that tethers them harmoniously together.
In the last few years we have re-defined our daily ritual from an ordinary need to a quotidian indulgence. We realized that we hadn’t purposefully investigated coffee as a product or as a connector, so we set off on a path to learn more about the raw material and where it comes from, how the chemistry and temperature of water affects the extraction, and more. We grew a deeper appreciation for filter coffee which led us to design a line of bespoke brewing tools that shed a new light on coffee preparation (but if you’re reading this, you may already know that).
LABEL DESIGN
At Naessi we work with materials, textures, patterns, and geometries that make each project unique.
Using the original CHICCHI label design as a point of departure, we transformed the color blocks into three-dimensional material. We took inspiration from the materiality of grit, terra cotta and travertine stone that exists throughout Rome: these materials that we see everyday, synonymous with our daily ritual for an exceptional cup of coffee.
At Næssi we love multidisciplinary connections, and we like to work with those people who bring passion and commitment to the project. Marigold is an inspiration: a place where flavors and feelings blend with a philosophy grounded in sustainable food and authentic hospitality. All this in Rome, just steps from our studio. Our desire to collaborate was born out of the passions we share with Sofie and Domenico.
